I have always liked Swatch, ever since I bought my first one (Jelly Fish) in a department store for my birthday, way back in 1987. 26 years later, I still have this model and wear it periodically. I would recommend "Croissant Chaud" for any individual of any age who wants a no frills, easy to read, classic style of watch without the high cost of some other brands.
Lastly, with Swatches, you save on having to bring it to a watch repair store to have the battery changed. Just buy another battery at a store and change it yourself (hint: a nickel seems to work well in opening the battery cover without damaging it).
I'm now wearing my second "Croissant Chaud." My first was a gift from my parents I finished college / started working full time in the late '90's. I wore it working overseas while working in the Peace Corps in the tropics for two years and through 5+ years of teaching school. The band became worn, flimsy, and discolored, but the face remained good as new for years. I replaced the band in 2002, and scuffed the face badly i a biking accident in 2005, after which I sadly could not easily read the face, and I stopped wearing it.
My husband found this model in an airport in 2010 and bought me my second copy. Today, I am replacing the battery of the 2010 model for the first time. The band of my "new" Croissant Chaud is now almost as shabby and discolored as the first, but the face is still in perfect condition, and the band is wearable. I can't decide if I want to replace the band now or wait for for the buckle to break entirely. I kind of like the shabby look, and the feel of the band now it is worn and flexible.
I gave the quality 4 stars due to the band's inability to hold up to many years of water or sweat. Don't let that hold you back - this watch is a classic you could love for decades.
I don't think I ever took it off unless I was in the shower or the swimming pool. (I would recommend taking it off even though it is waterproof as water wears on the leather band and discolors it).
I only gave this watch up once it was so damaged (water / fights with my hair straightener which melted half the face) that my sweet husband bought me a look-a-like replacement. A for effort, love, but I don't think I've ever loved another watch more than this one.
